Visiting Amsterdam to see the impact of effective programs for vulnerable people

Can you believe it is already February? You have probably heard that phrase a dozen times this week, but the year has truly launched itself faster than many of us expected!

As many of you know, we find ourselves in Europe to start the year. Faith is currently attending a residential school for three months—she is learning incredible things! I will let her give you the full update on that; if you want to track her journey, check out her Instagram stories. We are already seeing how her growth there will help develop the future of the Hidden Power Foundation.

Here are some highlights from the last couple of months as we build the capacity to serve young people—not just in Southeast Queensland, but throughout Australia and into the world.

The Team is Growing

Our board is officially up and running! We are thrilled to have two amazing professionals joining me to help steer the ship:

  • Kate Bjur: Kate joins us with a wealth of experience in youth justice and working with at-risk youth. She has been exposed to diverse tools and resources internationally. Her leadership will be invaluable in ensuring our programs create long-term impact rather than just short-term experiences.

  • Susie Gray: Susie is a Registered Nurse and an educational leader in Brisbane. She specialises in training and equipping nurses across Australia. Her expertise in healthcare, education, and helping young people achieve their dreams will be crucial as we develop tools for both youth and workers in the sector.

Free Concert to Help us Launch

Back in November a good friend of Michael’s called us and said he would like to do a fundraiser for the foundation. Will is an Australian artist who has recently returned for a few months to Brisbane from where he works in both New York and LA. We are so excited to announce that he will be launching a free fundraising concert for the Hidden Power Foundation this March in Brisbane!

More details to come soon, but an amazing story of bringing what you have in your hand and wanting to make a difference to the needs around.

We love his generosity and his desire to provide a platform for young people to hear positive messages about community and mental health. Check out @IMTHXFUTURE on Instagram—he is a great young man, and we are excited to partner with him!.

A BIG VISION - You can make a difference

Andrew will be returning to Australia in mid-February to start implementing programs on the ground in Southeast Queensland, with Faith joining me in mid-April. Our vision is expanding. As you know one of the areas we want to impact is

Juvenile detention - Did you know that there are 16 youth detention centres in Australia? At the end of last year, we pondered how we could spend the next 12 months creating resources to help volunteers go into these centres to bring effective training and connection. Hidden Power won’t just be a small group operating in one city. We are building a network of members, tools, and resources to work across cities in Australia and eventually the globe.

We hope to see thousands of young people being served by workers, volunteers, and professionals equipped by the Hidden Power Foundation.

Join the Adventure

Finally, a few housekeeping updates:

  1. We are Live: If you are reading this, you’ve found our new website!

  2. Legals: Our accounting and legal structures are set up.

  3. Donations: We are now ready to accept financial partners!

  4. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook

A note on giving: We have submitted our application for tax deductibility (DGR status) in Australia. We expect to know the outcome in the next few months. Until then, while gifts are not yet tax-deductible (and international gifts cannot be claimed for tax), they are incredibly appreciated.

We invite you to consider donating today as we lay the foundations for an organisation that will impact thousands of young people.

Welcome to the adventure.

Andrew and Faith Dutton
